Awards & Markers

Awards & Markers |

Tejano Heritage Awards are given annually to individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the preservation of our Texas history. These awards are given in the area of historical authorship, research, archeology, architecture, culture development and public awareness that focus and have impacted Hispanic heritage and legacy in our state. An annual ceremony is conducted with awards presented to selected persons and groups.

For several years now, Texas has also offered student awards from throughout the state through its student contests and the TSHA Hispanic Heritage Awards. Lastly, we offer and award and stipend for an annual commemorative Heritage Poster contest.

Historical Markers are relatively new and we are still organizing and planning our first marker program. Potential candidates will be considered from around the state. Recipients of these markers will be homes, commercial, religious and public buildings and sites that historically represent our past and conservation our community and society.
