Our President receives prestigious award
On September 20, 2017, our President and Founder, Mr. Rudi R. Rodriguez, was recognized by the San Antonio Business Journal as a leader who’s shaping the future of San Antonio’s economy because of his work in his family business, EPI Electrical Enclosures & Engineering. The C Suite Award is presented to men and women capable of driving positive change and inspiring others to do their best work. This year’s winners cover a range of key San Antonio industries and we are proud to have our President recognized for his many years of hard work and dedication to the electrical industry and the community.
Rudi Rodriguez’s first job was on his grandfather’s ranch in Medina County when he was 10. The morning after Rodriguez asked for work to make some money, his grandfather woke him up at the crack of dawn and drove him to a cornfield. With a hoe and a jug of water, he was instructed to clear the weeds from the corn rows for 50 cents a row.
“That 50-acre field was one of the biggest challenges I have ever encountered,” he said. “But I learned many lessons that day. The first is: Be careful what you ask for. The second is: Honor your commitments. The third is: Always finish what you begin.”
Rodriguez applied those lessons later in his life. His company, EPI Electrical Enclosures Inc., was born as a sheet metal fabrication shop in 1967. Fifty years later, EPI has engineered, manufactured and shipped more than 50 million electrical enclosures and wireway products to more than 160,000 destinations throughout the world — all from his warehouse on the Northwest Side of San Antonio.
A big part of EPI’s success over the last 50 years is due to Mr. Rodriguez’s management style. “I would describe my management style as “mentor management,” in which staff members are provided with the support, guidance, and encouragement needed to succeed in their positions. This approach, I believe, fosters an emphasis on professional growth rather than just performance and demonstrates my interest in them as an individual and as a member of the community. “says Rodriguez.
For more than 50 years now, EPI has provided our industry with leading research and development as well as the highest quality products. For more information on EPI, please call EPI at (210) 673-3580 or visit epi-enclosures.com.
