       TYACAPPAN VILLAGE. Tyacappan, an Indian village in East Texas, probably Caddoan, was visited by René Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, on his way from Matagorda Bay toward the Mississippi River in 1687. Its houses were said to be of canes covered with plaster.
