The Hispanic Heritage Center of Texas (HHCTX) is conducting its 2014 Tejano Heritage Month Poster Contest. The winning poster will be used to promote our Tejano Heritage Month celebrations. The winning entry will receive a $500 cash prize!

The Hispanic Heritage Center of Texas (HHCTX) is conducting a statewide search for the best example of Tejano art to be used in the production of the official poster for this year’s Tejano Heritage Month celebrations!

The month of September has been officially designated Tejano Heritage Month by Gov. Rick Perry and 2014 marks the eleventh anniversary of this designation. Beginning with the month of May, HHCTX will be holding a statewide poster contest that is open to all adult artists (18yr.+ as of July 31, 2014). Over 500 copies of the winning poster will be circulated to local schools to help educate students about the roles Tejanos played in the development of Texas.

“The Center's mission is to champion Hispanic legacy by ensuring the stories of Texas’ first pioneers, known as Tejanos in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, are chronicled in Texas history,” says Rudi R. Rodriguez, chairman and founder of the HHCTX. “The winning poster will be a commemorative and festive memento of our celebration of Tejano Heritage Month.”

Last year’s winning poster was designed by Richard Arredondo of San Antonio. This year, judges will select one (1) winner who will receive a $500 prize and will be honored at a special ceremony during Tejano Heritage Month. The contest will end on Thursday, July 31, 2014 and all entries must be received in the office at that time. Rules are listed below and will also be made available at is proud to support the Center's efforts to champion Hispanic heritage and legacy.
